Hundreds of Beavers opens on Groundhog Day!

In collaboration with Short’s Brewing and Foundry Craft Grillery, Elk Rapids Cinema will be hosting a brew and view on Groundhog’s Day featuring an indie film hot off the film festival circuit called “Hundreds of Beavers”. Critics are saying it’s outright hilarious, filled with smart gags, ingenious storytelling, and gut-busting slapstick. While there is no dialogue in the film, it is rich with Looney Tunes style sound quips and fantastic framing. Directed by Mike Cheslik and co-written by Mike Cheslik and (main actor) Ryland Brickson Cole Tews, the movie is set as a 19th century, supernatural winter epic, where a drunken applejack salesman must go from zero to hero and become North America's greatest fur trapper by defeating hundreds of beavers.
The Elk Rapids Cinema is the first to pick up the film outside of the film festivals circuit and will be the first cinema in Michigan to show the independent film. Coming into a new year after the projector being down for eight days at the end of 2023 the cinema is making good on their promise to continue to provide fantastic and unique cultural experiences. General Manager, Marianne Burrows, has always had a penchant for indie and art house films and plans to provide the opportunity to see more of them here in Northern Michigan. “This cinema is a special place. We have a lot of ideas but the spirit of this place is absolutely independent. We’re excited to show this film. It’s going to be a ton of fun.”

Showtimes for “Hundreds of Beavers” will be February 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th at 2pm & 7pm.
The Brew and View will start at 4pm on Friday the 2nd and noon on Saturday the 3rd. $15 bracelets = 2 beers at the cinema as well as 1/2 off appetizes and $1 pints of Local's Light at The Foundry. Additional drink tickets available at the cinema day of event.
